Every Wrestlemania match ranked (part 3)

The third and final part of my ranking of every match in Wrestlemania history (1-27). It was fun to look at all of these matches, some for the very first time, but really hard to put a lot of them in order. And this list probably bears testament to that. But it is what it is.

84. Vader, Owen Hart and the British Bulldog Vs Yokozuna, Jake 'the Snake' Roberts and Ahmed Johnson (WM12)
83. Cruiserweight Championship Match: Matt Hardy Vs Rey Mysterio (WM19)
82. Chris Jericho Vs Ricky Steamboat, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka (WM25)- for the incredible finishing stretch between Jericho and Steamboat.
81. Too Cool and Chyna Vs Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn- Guerrero elevates this from a throwaway match to a heap of fun.
80. European Championship Match: Shane McMahon Vs X-Pac (WM15)- the best match from Wrestlemania 15.
79. Intercontinental Championship Match: 'Ravishing' Rick Rude Vs The Ultimate Warrior (WM5)

67. Blindfold Match: Jake 'the Snake' Roberts Vs 'The Model' Rick Martel (WM7)
66. World Championship Match: Diesel Vs Shawn Michaels (WM11)- the best match from Wrestlemania 11.
65. Diesel Vs The Undertaker (WM12)
64. Hercules Vs Haku (WM5)- my 'find' of the project. Great little power against power match-up.
63. The Rock Vs Hulk Hogan (WM18)
62. World Championship Match: Triple H Vs The Rock Vs Mick Foley Vs The Big Show (WM16)- terribly booked.
61. World Championship Match: Yokozuna Vs Bret 'Hitman' Hart (WM10)
60. The Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels (WM25)- massively overrated match. Shawn's selling is too over-the-top, amongst other issues.
59. World Championship Match: Hulk Hogan Vs Andre the Giant (WM3)
58. The Undertaker Vs Kane (WM14)
57. Intercontinental/European Championship Match: Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit Vs Chris Jericho (WM16)
56. The Twin Towers Vs The Rockers (WM5)

49. Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Rob van Dam Vs Shelton Benjamin Vs Finlay Vs Ric Flair Vs Bobby Lashley Vs Matt Hardy (WM22)- a couple of great Shelton spots. Flair is underutilised, Lashley is overutilised.
48. Intercontinental Championship Match: Mr Perfect Vs Big Boss Man (WM7)- Andre the Giant and the DQ finish detract a little from this otherwise very strong match.
47. European Championship Match: Eddie Guerrero Vs Test (WM17)- great finishing stretch.
46. 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase Vs Jake 'the Snake' Roberts (WM6)- the best match from Wrestlemania 6.
45. World Championship Match: John Cena Vs Batista (WM26)- a good story making reference to their previous encounter.
44. Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Jericho (WM19)- Jericho is awesome in this, at he heart of everything good.
43. World Championship Match: Triple H Vs Booker T (WM19)- the finish kills it, but it is really strong until that point.
42. United States Championship Match: Chris Benoit Vs MVP (WM23)- a lost gem, with good solid storytelling and execution.
41. World Championship Match: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Vs Shawn Michaels (WM14)- booked really well to cover for Shawn's injury. Both work hard.
40. Hulk Hogan Vs Vince McMahon (WM19)- shockingly good. Lots of shortcuts, but they generally work.
39. Money in the Bank Ladder Match: CM Punk Vs Kane Vs Finlay Vs Mark Henry Vs MVP Vs Shelton Benjamin Vs Christian Vs Kofi Kingston (WM25)- lots of cool spots.
38. World Championship Match: Eddie Guerrero Vs Kurt Angle (WM20)- good match with a creative finish.
37. World Championship Match: Edge Vs Alberto Del Rio (WM27)- love the armwork and the use of the outside interference.
36. Shawn Michaels Vs Ric Flair (WM24)- good story of Shawn being reluctant to pull the trigger on Flair.
35. Kurt Angle Vs Shawn Michaels (WM21)- solid Angle performance, with some nice spots.
34. World Championship Match: Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Benoit (WM20)- good stuff between Benoit and Hunter.
33. Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit (WM17)- a match that tells a good story, with solid execution.
32. CM Punk Vs Rey Mysterio (WM26)- as good a 'shortie' as you're likely to see. They pack so much good stuff into 5 or 6 minutes.
31. Belfast Brawl: JBL Vs Finlay (WM24)- stiff and fun as hell.
30. Terry and Hoss Funk Vs Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana (WM2)- a forgotten match, wild and lots of fun.
29. Tag Team Championship Match: Demolition Vs Strike Force (WM4)- Demolition convince as the bully heels, and Martel is a great hot tag.
28. The Steiner Brothers Vs The Headshrinkers (WM9)- so much good, stiff wrestling in this one, with only a botched finish letting it down.
27. Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: The Hardy Boyz Vs The Dudley Boys Vs Edge and Christian (WM16)- some amazing stunts and bumps, but there are dead periods.
26. Shane McMahon Vs Vince McMahon (WM17)- lots of bells and whistles, but never stops being entertaining.
25. The Big Show Vs Floyd Mayweather (WM24)- great carry-job by Show. Really well-booked match.
24. The Rockers Vs The Barbarian and Haku (WM7)- the best straight tag in Wrestlemania history.
23. The Undertaker Vs Randy Orton (WM21)- starts hot, gets a bit plodding in the middle, but the finishing stretch is excellent.
22. Money in the Bank Ladder Match: CM Punk Vs Shelton Benjamin Vs Chris Jericho Vs Carlito Vs MVP Vs Mr Kennedy Vs John Morrison (WM24)- feels like a real fight. Like the Matt Hardy run-in and the call-back to the previous year's finish.
21. Edge Vs Mick Foley (WM22)- the most brutal match in Wrestlemania history, with a memorable flaming table finish.
20. World Championship Match: The Undertaker Vs Batista (WM23)- two giants throwing bombs at each other and stealing the show.
19. Randy Orton Vs CM Punk (WM27)- Punk's legwork is fantastic, and the finish is great.
18. World Championship Match: Hulk Hogan Vs Sergeant Slaughter (WM7)- Sarge works his ass off for Hulk, and even Hogan Hulking Up from under the Iraqi flag is great.
17. Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Chris Jericho Vs Kane Vs Chris Benoit Vs Christian Vs Edge Vs Shelton Benjamin (WM21)- the original and the best. Benjamin brings the big spots, and I like how the psychology of Benoit's injured arm plays into the finish.
16. World Championship Match: The Undertaker Vs Edge (WM24)- great match with two stories being told, Edge being able to counter 'Taker's big moves, and the Undertaker's injured back.
15. Tag Team Championship TLC Match: The Hardy Boyz Vs Edge and Christian Vs The Dudley Boys (WM17)- more outstanding spots, and the interference of Lita, Rhyno and Spike Dudley keeps things high tempo.
14. The Undertaker Vs Ric Flair (WM18)- 'Taker is great as the killer, and Flair is great as the old man who won't stay down. Arn Anderson run-in is a mark out moment and a half.
13. Intercontinental Championship Match: 'Macho Man' Randy Savage Vs Ricky Steamboat (WM3)- the booking lets it down slightly, but the work is so good.
12. Christian Vs Chris Jericho (WM20)- great match with a memorable finish.
11. Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match: Razor Ramon Vs Shawn Michaels (WM10)- great selling, and Shawn in particular puts in a great display.
10. World Championship Match: 'Macho Man' Randy Savage Vs Hulk Hogan (WM5)- Savage is a great heel in this match, always cheating to get ahead.
9. World Championship Iron Man Match: Bret 'Hitman' Hart Vs Shawn Michaels (WM12)- the big spots are laid out well to really keep this moving along, and both guys bust out some rare offence.
8. The Rock Vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin (WM19)- great brawling and character work, with the stand-out being Rock putting on the Austin vest.
7. Shawn Michaels Vs The Undertaker (WM26)- 'Taker's selling is excellent, the big spots are memorable and the finish is great. Much better than the WM25 match.
6. World Championship Match: 'Macho Man' Randy Savage Vs Ric Flair (WM8)- Flair is great on offence, Savage sells really well, and Mr Perfect is a great third man.
5. Intercontinental Championship Match: Bret 'Hitman' Hart Vs 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper (WM8)- a great piece of in-ring storytelling.
4. World Championship Match: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Vs The Rock (WM17)- about as heated as it gets. Both men bring the intensity. Great drama.
3. The Ultimate Warrior Vs 'Macho King' Randy Savage (WM7)- incredible drama and emotion. Both men come out of the match looking like stars.
2. Bret 'Hitman' Hart Vs Owen Hart (WM10)- a great wrestling match, and showcase for Owen. Bret's selling of the leg is excellent.
1. Submission Match: Bret 'Hitman' Hart Vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin (WM13)- incredibly intense brawling, the double turn, and that memorable finish. Star-making.

And that's all she wrote.
